See the 20 models compared side by side here. The 2013 version hasn’t changed much since the past model year, the only major change being the addition of that available 3.6-liter V-6 engine, a step up from the entry-level 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. I drove the well-equipped AWD LTZ with a new 3.6-liter V-6 engine, plus optional MyLink radio with navigation. Shoppers can choose between FWD and AWD in any of the Chevrolet Equinox trim levels, which include LS, 1LT, 2LT and LTZ (see all-wheel-drive versions side-by-side here). When climbing in for the first time, my 10-year-old daughter exclaimed, “Mom, this is the coolest car ever! Can we pretty please keep it?” LTZ trim adds chrome door handles, chrome skid plates, projector style headlights, chrome side mirrors, power liftgate, roof rack with crossbars and chrome accents, Ultrasonic rear parking assist, cargo area security shade, cargo net, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, universal home remote, and perforated leather seating. The 2013 Chevrolet Equinox is a capable crossover SUV with a sliding rear seat that can flex and grow with your family, draping occupants in an interior that’s more luxurious and spacious-feeling than many of its body-type competitors. The 1LT, 2LT and LTZ use the four-cylinder but can be optioned with the V6. The LS trim line uses the 2.4L engine exclusively. Both include direct injection and both use a six-speed automatic transmission. The Equinox comes with a choice of two engines: a 2.4-litre four-cylinder and 3.6-litre V6. In our experience, the Equinox has a hard time living up to its impressive fuel economy ratings, and four-cylinder models tend to feel underpowered. The Equinox is big for the compact class, and a rear seat that slides fore and aft lends its interior a level of flexibility missing in many of its rivals. The Equinox also catches up to the safety zeitgeist, a new safety package that bundles collision alert, lane departure warning and rear parking assist. Paint changes: Champagne Silver Metallic (late availability), Atlantis Metallic and Tungsten Metallic added.Ĭhevrolet's popular compact crossover drops its optional 3.0L V6 engine in favour of a stronger 3.6L motor that boasts the same fuel consumption ratings.
